As host, Surprise already agreed to cover its costs, expected to reach about $750,000 per year. The city plans to recoup most of it through sponsorships and ticket sales.
The hospital’s total contribution is likely to reach at least $600,000, Community and Recreation Services Director Mark Coronado said, noting that hospital officials wanted to make a “major impact” in the West Valley and that the event was a solid fit because “many of the elements of the tournament are related to families, to kids, to wellness.”
