No Contract
I have been informed by the City of Surprise today that other then the resolution below, there is no contract between the City and the Interim City Manager.
It is now understandable why the council members would not take: agenda item #9 off consent for discussion.

Consideration and action on Resolution No. 2010-45; a Resolution of the Mayor and Council of the City of Surprise, Maricopa, Arizona appointing and designating an Interim City Manager until such a time as the appointment of a permanent City Manager or this designation may be rescinded.
RESOLUTION # 10-45
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SURPRISE, MARlCOPA COUNTY ARlZONA,
APPOINTING AND DESIGNATING AN INTERIM CITY
MANAGER UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE APPOINTMENT
OF A PERMENANT CITY MANAGER OR THIS
DESIGNATION MAYBE RESCINDED.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the City of Surprise vested with the powerto appoint the City Manager pursuant to Chapter 2 of the Surprise City Code; and
WHEREAS, the office of City Manager of the City of Surprise became vacant onMarch 25, 2010, and the Mayor and Council of the City deem it necessary and
appropriate that an Interim City Manager be appointed until such time as the Mayor and
Council fill the office of City Manager by appointment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City ofSurprise, Arizona, as follows.
Section 1. Mark Coronado is hereby appointed and designated Interim CityManager until this Resolution shall be rescinded or repealed, or until a duly appointed
City Manager executes the oath of office and commences employment with the City
which is estimated to be approximately six months.
Section 2. The Interim City Manager shall be vested with all power and authoritygranted to office of the City Manager and shall perform the duties and responsibilities of
the office of City Manager as they may be set forth under the laws and statutes of the
State of Arizona and Surprise City Code.
Section 3. The Interim City Manager shall be paid a salary of $7,708.34 bi-weekly.
Section 4. Mark Coronado will have the ability to return to his position asDirector of the Community & Recreation Services at the conclusion of his service as the
Interim City Manager.
