Surprise residents, homeowner association board members and management company staff are encouraged to attend the March 10 HOA Connection meeting to learn more about solar energy systems.

 

The “How Residential and Community Solar Energy Systems can Benefit Residents” seminar is presented jointly by the Surprise HOA Connection and the Presidents Roundtable.

 

Speakers include a representative from Arizona Public Service (APS), a city Water Services manager and a resident that is enjoying the benefits of using solar energy products at his personal residence.

 

The quarterly meetings of the Surprise HOA Connection are designed to strengthen communication between the city and its HOAs and to coordinate city and professional resources in support of the city’s HOA communities.

 

The HOA Connection seminar is Wednesday, March 10, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., and will be held in the auditorium of the Public Safety Building, 14250 W. Statler Plaza, Surprise, AZ.

Hello All, 

Beginning the week of February 22nd I am happy to announce we will be running a series of Drop-In Drills.  These are a great option for those of you who have busy schedules and simply can’t commit to a six-week session of classes even though you would love to work on your game.  The drills have 8-1 student to pro ratios and can be registered for by simply contacting the front desk at least 24 hours prior to the start of the drill.  Registration is going on now for the first week of the new drop-in drills.

  Stress Buster – Monday nights 6-7:30pm 

Start the week off right with a fast moving drill designed to work up a sweat and improve your game.  Drill will focus on strategy, court movement, and singles and doubles play.  Designed for players rated 3.0 and higher.

 Dysart sets timeline to fill board vacancy

Bring your dog to the March 6th Spring Training game at Surprise Stadium and enjoy play between the Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers at 1:05 p.m.  

Dogs and owners will have their own designated “doggie area”.  “People Tickets” are $13 and “Dog Tickets” are $5. Dog Day at the Surprise Stadium is sponsored by All Star Animal Hospital. 

To get tickets, a registration form must be completed in advance.  No walk-ups will be allowed on event day.  Registration forms may be picked up at the Surprise Recreation Campus Box Office or downloaded at www.surprisespringtraining.com.  Registration forms will be accepted through February 26, 2010.  Copies of current vaccinations required at the time of registration.  

Dogs participating must be at least 6 months old and on a leash at all times.  Only one dog per adult.

The City of Surprise Community and Recreation Services Department is gearing up for a Spring Adult Baseball League for ages 18 and over. 

 

The league will consist of 10 games played as double headers and a single elimination tournament. All games will be played on Sundays at the Surprise Recreation Campus. 

 

This league will be an Open-Recreational league and have an 8 team maximum with a 20 player roster maximum per team. Resident Registration is available from February 20-26. 

 

The fee is $900 per team and registration must be done in person at the Community and Recreation Services Office, 15960 N. Bullard Avenue.

Surprise AZ (February 12, 2010) The Surprise City Council named various members to committees that help Surprise have a regional voice at its meeting Thursday night.

Larry Miller Toyota Kids Day – Monday, February 15th from 11am-12pm Kids Day is a one-hour clinic for any registered junior player.  The clinic will include drills, games and instruction from tennis professional from the tournament and STRC teaching staff.  In addition, the USTA will lead a prize court and there will be an autograph session to follow.  All participants are invited to stay for the remainder of the day for the day’s matches.  To register for Kids Day contact STRC at 623-222-2400. Nationwide Insurance in Surprise Adaptive Recreation Clinic – Tuesday, February 16th from 5:30pm – 6:30pm On Tuesday evening for the second consecutive year the City of Surprise Adaptive Recreation Department and the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex will team up to host an Adaptive Recreation Clinic.  The clinic will include games, drills, and an autograph session with a professional from the tournament.     Surprise City Hall has been designated as a job training site for Census 2010.    

     

    The Regional Census Bureau Office will use the Council Overflow Room for training sessions starting in April. 

    This week the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) began widening work on US 60 (Grand Avenue) in Surprise. Crews will widen Grand Avenue to three lanes in each direction and make intersection improvements to ease traffic flow from 99th Avenue to the Loop 303. Rubberized asphalt will be used on both new and existing lanes. The 8th Annual Coca-Cola College Baseball Classic will return to the Surprise Recreation Campus, March 4 - 7, as a part of Surprise’s 8th Annual Celebration of Baseball!  The Coca Cola College Baseball Classic will be co-hosted by Arizona State University Sun Devils and feature Oregon State University Beavers, University of Cal Riverside Highlanders, Florida International Jaguars, Cal Poly Mustangs and Utah Valley University Wolverines.   Tickets are on sale NOW at the Surprise Recreation Campus Box Office, 15960 N. Bullard Avenue. They can also be purchased over the phone with Ticketmaster at 800.745.3000 and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets are all general admission and are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students under 18 with ID.  A ticket for the Spring Training game will be honored for admission to that day’s college game.

      A wheelchair tennis exhibition, featuring former US Open Singles and Doubles wheelchair tennis champion Nannette Oatley and former United States Junior Doubles Champion Rick Carter, has been added to the exciting lineup of the Symmetry Software Women’s $25,000 Pro Circuit Tennis Championships at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex. The wheelchair exhibition is scheduled for Sunday, February 21, in between the tournament’s singles and doubles finals play.  The singles final begins at 12 p.m. with the wheelchair exhibition immediately following the trophy presentation.

    As you know by now next week marks the return of the $25,000 Symmetry Software Women’s Pro Circuit Tennis Championships.  Last year’s champion Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium went on to the Semi’s at the US Open in September.  The week of tennis action also includes a number of fantastic events that you can be a part of!
