The Surprise Recreation Campus will host its first-ever professional Major League Soccer (MLS) match, as Chivas USA takes on the 2008 MLS Champions the Columbus Crew!
The game, Saturday, February 27, 11 a.m., will be played at the Surprise Recreation Campus – 8 acres field north of Surprise Stadium, 15960 N. Bullard Avenue.
Chivas USA is based in the Los Angeles suburb or Carson, California. The club, founded in 2004, has had remarkable success in just four seasons in MLS. In 2008, the club finished in the second in the Western Conference, qualifying for the playoffs for the third year in a row. Chivas USA plays its home games at the Home Depot Center. The Columbus Crew was introduced as the first of 10 inaugural MLS clubs in 1994. Based out of Columbus Ohio, the Crew plays their home games at the Columbus Crew Stadium.
Tickets to the game are free with a non-perishable food donation benefiting Valley View Community Food Bank.
For more information regarding the game please call 623.222.2000 or visit www.surpriseaz.com
I emaild the city asking why are we supporting the food bank in Young Town instead of the one in Surprise, this has happened before, since Lyn Truitt has become Mayor.
