In these tight economic times, it’s more important than ever to maintain a high credit score and stick to a budget. Surprise residents can learn how to improve their financial health and avoid I.D. Theft by taking three free classes.
Surprise, in partnership with Credit Union West,
is offering the “Understanding Your Credit Score” financial fitness course March 11. It will address personal credit, how the credit score is determined, and strategies to improve your credit score. Class participants will receive a free credit scoring evaluation from Credit Union West to aid them in future financial awareness, planning and budgeting.
On April 1, the “Attaining Financial Freedom through Budgeting” class will be offered.
This class will address the issue of how to build and stick to a personal budget. Students will be given access to personal budget planning software. Following a healthy financial budget, along with a good credit score, can save people money in a variety of ways, including helping them obtain lower-interest loans or credit cards.
The third class “ID Theft, Scams and Fraud” will be given on May 6. This class will identify the various methods criminals use to steal your identity and provide you with specific steps that you can take to minimize the risk of having your identity stolen.
All classes will be held at the City Hall Classroom, 12425 W. Bell Road, Building D, from 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
