live reports from tennis tourney

Surprise AZ (November 3, 2008) Surprise 11, the city’s cable and internet TV channel, will originate several live broadcasts from the CTCA Tennis Championships this week to help promote the tournament to area residents.

“It is part of the team contribution to the success of the tournament,” says Surprise Assistant City Manager Doug Sandstrom. “It is also a chance to demonstrate how live broadcasting can be integrated into some city events.”

The broadcasts will be brief updates on the event at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex and encourage residents to attend.  “We will do live shots in the 6 p.m. hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights,” says Communications Director Ken Lynch.  “Viewers will see live interviews as well as information about attendance, parking and upcoming matches.” Broadcasts are also planned for Saturday and Sunday, he adds.

Just two weeks ago, the city began embedding videos in some of the news releases posted onto the recently redesigned www.surpriseaz.com. The city recently added live streaming video onto the web site, along with archived video of all city-produced programs. “We are alive to all the possibilities of integrating sound communications practices with current technology.  It is part of being a creative, innovative city,” says Sandstrom.
