Arizona Shakespeare Festival Brings the Bard to Surprise
This fall the Arizona Shakespeare Festival (ASF) hits the road with a statewide tour of the romantic comedy, “As You Like It.” The professional theatre company, headquartered in Prescott, will stop to perform at the Surprise Recreation Campus Community Park, 15953 N. Bullard Ave. on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. The event will be free to the public.
Bring a blanket and your appetite as there will be Shakespeare cuisine, including turkey legs, steak on a stick, roasted nuts and more. The show will be approximately 2 hours. Don’t be alarmed if you are sitting by a Lady of the Court, a peasant or a Knight of Order, all from the Arizona Renaissance Festival as they will also be in attendance to entertain the audience.
Arizona Shakespeare Festival was founded in Prescott in 1999 by theatre veterans Mason and Kelly Johnston. Professional theatre members and guest actors have performed in both outdoor and indoor venues in Prescott and throughout the state over the last decade. This is their first statewide tour.
Come and join this free Performance in the Park on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2 p.m. If you would like more information, call Surprise Community and Recreation Services at 623.222.2000 or log onto www.surpriseaz.com/specialevents.
