Surprise Memorial Day Parade a Must-See Event
SURPRISE, AZ (May 14, 2008) Join the city of Surprise on Saturday, May 24, for the Second Annual Memorial Day Parade, as we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms as Americans. The parade along Bullard Avenue, in front of Surprise Stadium, will begin at 8:30 a.m. This year’s parade participants include the Luke Air Force Base Honor Guard, American Legion Post 96, and the Valley Vista High School Marching Band. The Surprise Rotary Club will ride horseback along the parade route and the Jazzy Poms, along with several Girl Scout, Boy Scout and Brownie Troops will strut their stuff too! You can also enjoy the “Fire Up Freedom” fire truck.
And for you early risers, why not buy a ticket to attend the Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast prior to the parade. Breakfast, served by the new Surprise Denny’s Restaurant, will be from 6 a.m. - 8 a.m. at the Surprise Recreation Campus. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. All proceeds benefit the Surprise Sundancers’ efforts to support local youth charities.
Tickets are available in advance at the Community & Recreation Services Department located at 15960 N. Bullard Avenue.
