Surprise invites all veterans and the public-at-large to attend a special Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 9.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on the lawn just east of the Surprise Northwest Regional Library on Bullard Avenue. Patriotic displays, a police and fire honor guard, speeches and songs will be part of the hourlong event.
A mayoral proclamation will also be read in honor of all veterans. Mayor Joan Shafer, city council members, city staff and officials from Luke Air Force Base will attend.
Veterans living within Surprise city limits may call for a free ride to and from the event through the city’s Dial-A-Ride service. Seating is limited. Reservations should be made by calling 623-222-1622.
