Please be advised that City Hall numbers have changed as of today.    Here is a copy of the elections article that was on the back cover of the Surprise Progress – Summer Edition, with updated phone numbers to the City Clerk’s Office.   Also, this article is on the City’s website, and please note that additional articles on the election process will be in the Arizona Republic (Surprise Section), Surprise Today, Surprise Independent and The Wester over the next couple of weeks. Please contact the City Clerk’s Office if you have any elections questions @ 623-222-1200.

SURPRISE PROGRESS – SUMMER EDITION – ARTICLE (Delivered to 50,000+ households in Surprise – June 2007) Surprise’s vote-by-mail primary election is coming up!  All mailed ballots must be received at the Maricopa County Elections Department by September 11, 2007. 

Here is how it works: If you are a registered voter living in Surprises, you will automatically receive a ballot in the mail.  Ballots go out August 9, 2007. 

You will be asked to make a selection for Mayor of Surprise, and if you live in city council districts 2, 3 or 4, you will be asked to select a city council candidate.  Complete instructions will be enclosed with your ballot. After making your selection, simply put the ballot in the postage paid envelope you will receive with your ballot and drop it in the mail.  Please be sure to mail it in time to be received at the Maricopa County Elections Department no later than Tuesday, September 11, 2007. 

If you are not registered to vote, you may still vote in this citywide election if you register by August 13, 2007.  You can register online at www.recorder.maricopa.gov.  For more information about registering, please call the Surprise City Clerk’s Office at 623-222-1200 or visit www.surpriseaz.com and click on the “Voting News 2007” icon on the right side of the page. If you are planning to be out of town between August 10 and September 11,  you can have a ballot mailed to your temporary out of town address.  You will find more information about this topic on our web site or by calling the Surprise City Clerk’s Office at 623-222-1200.

¡Se aproxima  la elección primaria de boleta enviada por el correo de Surprise! El Departamento de Elecciones del Condado de Maricopa tiene que recibir todas las boletas enviadas por el correo para el 11 de septiembre de 2007. Así es como funciona: 

Si es un votante inscrito y vive en Surprise, usted recibirá una boleta por el correo automáticamente. Las boletas se enviarán por el correo el 9 de agosto de 2007. Se le pedirá que elija un Alcalde de Surprise y si vive en uno de los distritos del concejo de la ciudad 2, 3 o 4, se le pedirá elegir un candidato para el concejo de la ciudad. Instrucciones completas se incluyeran con su boleta. 

Después de hacer su selección, simplemente coloque su boleta en el sobre de porte pagado que recibirá con su boleta y envíelo por el correo. Por favor asegurese de enviarlo por el correo con suficiente tiempo para que el Departamento de Elecciones del Condado Maricopa lo reciba no más tarde que el martes, 11 de septiembre de 2007. 

Si no esta inscrito para votar, siempre podrá votar en esta elección municipal si se inscribe para votar para el 13 de agosto de 2007. Se puede inscribir para votar en línea al www.recorder.maricopa.gov. Para información adicional tocante inscripción como votante, favor de comunicarse con la Oficina de la Secretaria Municipal de Surprise al 623-222-1200 o visite www.surpriseaz.com y clic el icono “Voting News 2007″ Si tiene pensado estar fuera del pueblo entre el 10 de agosto y el 11 de septiembre, se le puede enviar una boleta por el correo a su dirección temporal de fuera del pueblo.
